昭和11年、北国で暮らす少年・草太は貧しいながらも祖父と2人で慎ましく暮らしていた。学校に通えない草太のそばにはいつも秋田犬のチビと村一番の令嬢・早代がいて、草太は絵描きになることを夢見ていつも絵を描いていた。草太と早代は密かに心を通わすが、クリスマスの夜、2人に悲しい運命が訪れる……。主演は映画初出演となるジャニーズJr.の森本慎太郎。監督を「東京タワー／オカンとボクと、時々、オトン」の松岡錠司、脚本を「おくりびと」の小山薫堂が手がける。
