《筑梦乐队》讲述喜欢音乐的张大山从小跟70岁的奶奶生活，家境贫寒，在党员林宗耀的支助下顺利考上黔东师范音乐学院后林宗耀却杳无音讯。大山一直谨遵当初林宗耀的教诲，把赚到学到的回馈社会。在寻找林宗耀的过程中，遇到晕倒在街头的小朋友林云。大山决定伸出援助之手，帮助林云照顾他重病的奶奶，为了给林奶奶筹集医药费，大山在老同学阿郎的怂恿下找回曾经大学一起玩乐队的队友们，重组乐队参加超星星大赛，当他们努力争取到比赛的第一名奖金时，遭到经纪人阿郎把奖金捐款而跑，乐队成员的误会大山，认为大山和阿郎合伙私吞奖金，导致乐队解散。乐队成员卢红雨发现大山的善举解除误会，成员回归继续演出。老人出院回到乡下，大山带着乐队探望发现自己支助的老人是林宗耀的母亲，也得知恩人林宗耀因救人牺牲。大山决定留在山村教留守孩子们知识和音乐，用歌声传递着世间的真善美。
